![]() ![]() In Spring, the queen bee comes out of hibernation and begins giving birth to worker bees. Hibernation of Bumblebeesīumblebees live one year. This can be anywhere from weeks to months. The Small Brown Bat, native to the Northern United States and Southern parts of Canada, is a bat that hibernates. The amount of time they spend hibernating depends on the climate in which they live. Frogs that generally live on land, like the bullfrog, dig into the soil below the frost line to wait out the Winter. The period of inactivity lasts 3-4 months.įrogs that live in the water, such as the toad, hibernate at the bottom of a creek or river. This means that they will become inactive when the water they live in is colder. Turtles receive their heat from their surroundings (ectothermic). When the time comes to hibernate again, bears don’t go to the same den that they went to the previous year. The female bears give birth to their cubs while still in hibernation. They stay in their den for around 5 – 7 months. Hibernation of Bearsīears are the most commonly known animals that hibernate during the Winter. Add or take away information as you see fit. I created vocabulary words for my word wall and read books to the students about the animals that hibernate.
